By Cindy Reid |  There is a fresh new band in town and you better get yourself to their next gig so you can say you were a fan before they hit the big time! It’s The Brewer Band, fronted by Beaufort’s own Amanda Brewer, and they put on a rockin’ good time. Amanda’s voice has a hint of Janis Joplin, Sheryl Crow and Adele but it is all her own and she uses it well on songs such as  What I Like about You, Walking on Sunshine ,Stuck Like GlueSuperstition and Son of a Preacherman . Not many vocalists can do justice to Dusty Springfield and Stevie Wonder but Amanda, who is a reference librarian by day and rock star by night , nails it every time.

The musicians are just as good, with William “Mac”  McClelland on bass guitar, Dan Hodges on drums,Scotti DeRouen on electric guitar and Paul Lazzo on trumpet. Seemingly related to everyone in town, the band already has a loyal fan following that dances to every song and boy they can make a joint jump!

So, if you are looking to get and hear a great new band, do yourself a big favor and check out The Brewer Band at their next gig! I guarantee that by the time Amanda belts out Proud Mary you too will be out on the dance floor!  http://www.thebrewerband.com

If you’d like to see them in person, they’ll be playing down at Boondocks Restaurant on St. Helena Island Saturday night, September 1st.
