Combining food with live entertainment and lots of fun things for kids to do is what most of our festivals are made of here in Beaufort. This Saturday’s upcoming Beaufort Food Truck Festival has grown into a large-scale event over the past two months of planning by the folks at the Lowcountry Jaycees.

Scheduled for Saturday from 11am to 4pm at the Santa Elena History Center on Bay Street in downtown, the festival boasts ten food trucks, live music and a big kids zone along with tons of other local vendors and artists selling everything from clothing to crafts and even jewelry.

How’s that for variety?

“Our goal this year as an organization was to make Beaufort more aware of who the Jaycees are and we wanted to changes things up with our fundraiser,” said Kristin McClain, Secretary of the organization and Co-Chair for the event. “During one of our meetings, we came up with the idea of a Food Truck Festival because Beaufort hasn’t had one in the past few years and Food Trucks are quickly becoming more visible in our community.”foodtruckfestival1

“Our original idea was to keep the festival  small and simple, with the focus on planning the event well so we could build the next year,” she added.

Then things changed.

“When we began to get the word out. our festival quickly became popular with the community and we were inundated with requests from vendors to participate. It really grew, quickly,” Kristin said.

Local food trucks attending include All About that Bean, Murican Border, Tavinos Wood Fired Oven, Time to Eat, Lowcountry Lobster and local favorite It’s Only Fair.

Other vendors include Rodan & Fields, Lularoe, Thirty One, Circa1910, Beaufort Coffee Roasters and man more.

OneBlood’s blood mobile will also be there to participate in the Junior Service League of Beaufort’s annual Blood Drive.

Organized by the hardworking volunteer staff at the Lowcountry Jaycees, all proceeds of the Beaufort Food Truck Festival go to benefit Jaycee Camp Hope. Jaycee Camp Hope was established in 1969 and is a statewide residential camp for individuals with cognitive disabilities, ages 7 and older. Through four summer sessions, Jaycee Camp Hope strives to give campers healthy experiences outdoors. Benefits include exercise, outdoor activities, personal growth, and social development with peers and caring adults.

The event is planned for 11:00am to 4pm and you can bring the family and spend the day enjoying lots of great food, live music, a kids zone with games and face painting and lots more.
