The City of Beaufort has planned a public memorial service for the late Henry C. Chambers to be held Monday, July 23rd, 2018 at 430pm. The service will be held under the covered pavilion at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.

The former Mayor passed away on Saturday, July 14th at the age of 89.

While Mayor of Beaufort for some 20 years, beginning in 1969, Chambers helped to revitalize Beaufort’s downtown district and secured the funding to create the downtown waterfront park, which bears his name.

Last July on his 89th birthday, he was awarded the Order of the Palmetto for his service to Beaufort; the highest civilian honor in the state of South Carolina.

Everyone is invited to attend the memorial service on Monday as the community gathers to remember one of Beaufort’s greatest visionaries and contributors.
