Parish Church of St. Helena's Nearly New Sale draws crowd

By Gail Ankney |  The Parish Church of St. Helena kicked off this year’s Nearly New Sale on Thursday with a steady crowd of eager customers looking for some great deals on quality clothing.  Held annually since the early 90’s, the Nearly New Sale benefits the churches various missions, both local and international.
On the sale’s first day, the doors opened at 10am and it did not take long for the building to fill up.  Cars lined the street all around the block, and shoppers of all ages poured in.

The Nearly New Sale offers clothing for women, men and children.  Variety and value are present as it offers shoes and many accessories for $1, blouses for only $3, jackets at a ‘steal’ for $4, and a wide selection of dresses for $5.  Mens suits are also available, and the only items that are more expensive would be some of the more-special designer pieces, and even then nothing is priced over $25.

“The idea behind the Nearly New Sale is to offer the community the chance to get good clean clothes for an affordable price” explains Patti O’Leary, the Chairperson for the event.  O’Leary also explained that the event is a great way to promote fellowship within the community because “at the Parish Church, we are big into fellowship.”

Through the sale, the Parish Church of St. Helena is able to help hundreds of local families by providing clothing at an affordable rate, and the timing is especially important due to school starting back in the weeks to come.  All of the items sold during the sale are checked for quality and cleanliness before offering it to the public.  It is the mission of the church to only offer the community “good quality” clothing,” explains O’Leary.

If you didn’t make it over for the first day, you still have two more.  The sale runs from 10am to 6pm both Friday and Saturday.  You better get out there before all the good stuff is gone!
