Trask Parkway hotel project to be completed by fall
The two new Hilton brand hotels being built along Trask Parkway at the intersection of Parris Island Gateway in Beuafort are scheduled to be completed by early this fall, a company spokeswoman said this week.
HD Companies, a local real estate development company which already operates Sleep Inn and Comfort Suites in the city, started construction of two new hotels last fall.
“The Beaufort region is incredibly business-friendly and boasts a beautiful coastal environment capable of handling the demands of a growing, regional, national and international economy,” HD president DJ Desai said. “It was the perfect place to bring these two new Hilton brand hotels, and we are pleased to continue doing business in Beaufort.”
This adds 205 new hotel rooms to the availability in Beaufort. Tru by Hilton will bring 98 rooms inside a 38,000-square-foot hotel at Parris Island Gateway and County Shed Road. It will be located next to Home2 Suites, which will have 107 high-end rooms across 60,000 square feet.
The site was selected because of its direct access to the Spanish Moss Trail, which highlights Lowcountry water and marsh views, coastal wildlife and historic points of interest. HD Companies plans to install benches and water fountains for visitors to the trail.
“I think it’s fabulous that an almost-abandoned mobile home park can be transformed into such a great asset for the community. This is a quality product in a prime location from a good developer,” Mayor Billy Keyserling said.
“Right now, it’s the only site with access to the Spanish Moss Trail, is the first site as you come into the city, and is convenient to both military bases. I’m very happy to see them move forward,” Keyserling added.
