Main Street Beaufort Dollars sell out in record time

Well, that was fast. Main Street Beaufort sold out of all of it’s available Main Street Dollars in a record time this morning.

$15,000 worth. In 13 minutes and 42 seconds.

Think folks are excited to shop in downtown Beaufort? You bet.

Patrons lined up early in the morning downt West Street Extension and along Bay Street to purchase their maximum allotted amount of $100 per person (for $50) which went on sale Saturday morning at 10am.

The program proved to be successful in 2012 when the public lined up to purchase the 15,000 MSB Dollars available which sold out in 18 minutes. The program is designed to boost the downtown economy at a historically

slow time of year and encourage locals to shop downtown. Main Street Beaufort reimburses participating businesses for 100% of the MSB Dollars they receive.

Folks holding the funny money have until March 21st to spend them at some 47 local participating businesses. (that’s some serious variety!)
