12 May Junior Service League gives $19,000 to local organizations
By Megan Grabowski | The ladies from the Junior Service League of Beaufort hosted their annual Jubilee on Saturday evening in the beautiful courtyard of the historic Beaufort Arsenal on Craven Street in downtown.
Attendees enjoyed a night full of fun, food and fellowship along with a big silent auction featuring tons of great local stuff donated by many of Beaufort’s businesses.
Topping off the evening was the annual grant giving by the organization. This year’s recipients received $19,450 that was raised through various JSLB fundraising events throughout the year. The recipients included Second Helpings, Born to Read, CAPA, the United Way, Hopeful Horizons, HELP of Beaufort, the Neighborhood Outreach Connection, Thumbs Up and Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity
At the event, Reece Berthoff was named the Husband of the Year (of the all-gal group) for his help at local events and Kaitlin Reed was named JSLB Member of the Year.
Also, recognized for her contribution to our community, Connie Hipp was honored with honorary memberships in the organization.
JSLB is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005 dedicated to supporting and enriching the lives of women, children and families in our community. The league has donated more than $145,000 to area nonprofits since its founding, and league members regularly volunteer in our community.
