First Beaufort Food Truck Festival a big hit

First Beaufort Food Truck Festival a big hit

IMG_6513Thousands flocked to downtown to enjoy the first Beaufort Food Truck Festival on Saturday over on North Street next to the Santa Elena History Center.

The food lines were long, but well worth the wait with some folks waiting as much as 30 minutes to get their fill of fare from ten local food trucks including It’s Only Fair,  Chazito’s, Murican Border and Time to Eat. Live music, a kids game zone and lots of other vendors helped round off the day of fun.

“The Jaycees are thrilled to have the turn out that we did. We can’t thank the food trucks and vendors that came out to support Camp Hope and to help make the event a success. It’s safe to say that there will be a second Beaufort Food Truck Festival next year,” said Kristin McClain, Secretary of the organization and Co-Chair for the event.

Folks were also asked to vote for their favorite food truck to award a ‘People’s Choice’ winner at the end of the day, and the award went to Chazito’s.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Lowcountry Jaycees Camp Hope, a statewide residential camp for individuals with cognitive disabilities, ages 7 and older.

Combining food with live entertainment and lots of fun things for kids to do is what most of our festivals are made of here in Beaufort. Saturday’s Beaufort Food Truck Festival is right up there with the rest of the best.
