Friends of Beaufort Library Fall Book Sale
September 28 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
It’s time to get some good books on the cheap as the Friends of the Beaufort Library, Beaufort, Lobeco and St. Helena Branches, will hold its Annual Fall Book Sale September 28th through the 30th at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in downtown Beaufort. Everyone’s favorite book sale is the main fundraising event held by the Beaufort Friends, with all proceeds benefiting the Beaufort County Library System branches in the Beaufort area.
On Friday, September 28th, a private 2-hour sale for all members of the Friends will be held from 10:00am-Noon. Those who are interested in becoming a member can sign up any time before or during the presale at the membership table to gain access to the presale for only $15.
The sale will open to the general public on Friday, September 28th from 12:00pm-6:00pm, and will reopen on Saturday from 10:00am-6:00pm. The book sale will reopen from 12:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday, during which time ALL books and audio-visual items will be half-price, including the Rare and Collectible books.
Most books are priced at $2.00 for hardbacks, $1.50 for large “Trade” paperbacks, and 50 cents for “pocket” paperbacks. Children’s books and audio-visual materials are also individually priced at ten cents and up.
The popular Silent Auction will again be conducted during this year’s book sale, with bids being accepted between 10 am on Friday and 3 pm on Saturday, when bidding closes. Included in this year’s Silent Auction are a number of signed Pat Conroy books, a selection of Natural History books on birds, gardens, freshwater fish, tropical plans, wildflowers and aquarium fish. Many similar books will also be found in the Rare & Collectible section, as well as on the Natural History, Gardening and other tables.
“This year’s Silent Auction is going to be bigger and better than ever,” according to Book Sale Chairman Kinsey Baker. “We’re getting donations daily so it’s a good idea to look at our website for more announcements about items that will be included in the auction.”
Browsers will notice the addition of a few new categories at this years’ sale, and books will be added regularly throughout the sale as well.
The Book Sale is the main fundraising event held by the Friends with all proceeds benefiting the Beaufort County Public Library branches in Beaufort, Lobeco and St. Helena Island. All proceeds from this sale go back into the branch libraries to support programming and materials.
