Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Throughout the month of October, Beaufort’s Hopeful Horizons will be hosting events to raise awareness of domestic violence in the community, state and around the nation.

Clothesline Project

The Clothesline Project is an awareness installation created by women who have experienced violence. Each t-shirt has been created either by a woman who has survived violence or in honor of a woman who has experienced violence. The different color shirts represent different types of violence; rape, child abuse, domestic abuse, etc.  Each shirt in the collection was created locally.

Wedding Gown Project

Wedding gowns featuring the names of victims killed in the two prior years in incidences of domestic violence in South Carolina will be on display in Hampton, Colleton, and Jasper County family courthouses.

Shear Miracle Color Me Purple Fundraiser

Shear Miracle Salon in Hilton Head is helping to cut out domestic violence in October. Purple highlights are offered for $10 per streak, and a basket of Moroccan Oil Products will be raffled for $5 per ticket. All proceeds benefit Hopeful Horizons.
