Saturday night brought out the stars at USCB Center for the Arts in downtown Beaufort was filled to capacity when some familiar local faces in the community hit the dance floor for a night of fun with CAPA’s 2nd annual Dancing With Our Stars competition and fundraiser.
The huge event that pairs up local dancers with members of the community had the stars known around Beaufort competing not only for bragging rights as the best dancers, but also competing to raise money for one of the community’s most vital organizations.
When tickets went on sale in January, the event sold out in one hour, and it raised a whopping total of $115,000 for the local Child Abuse Prevention Agency.
The 11 teams have been raising money for weeks and garnering votes online with each $1 donated gaining the team one vote. Many of the teams held their own fundraisers and relied upon friends and well-wishers from the community for donations. Guests who attend the event continued to vote for their favorite team by donating.
“When you wish upon the Stars, your dreams come true,” said Christina Wilson, Director of the organization.
“On Saturday night, these Stars danced their hearts out and raised over $115,000 to stop child abuse and neglect,” she added.
The show was hosted by Katie Huebel, owner of WED-Wedding Event Design, and Jesse Gavigan of Gavigan Entertainment Group, LLC.
“Thank you to everyone – the stars, instructors, sponsors, business partners, staff, advertisers, event guests, family, friends and our presenting sponsor, Vaden of Beaufort,” Wilson said.
“All of you made this happen.”
