City Java & News to open second location in Beaufort

The owners of one of Downtown Beaufort’s popular coffee spots, City Java & News, have announced their plans to open a second location in Beaufort.

In a release issued on Tuesday, owner Matt McAlhaney confirmed that he will open another City Java & News location on Ribaut Road across from Beaufort Memorial Hospital, in the spot formerly occupied by Carolina Dog & Deli.

Carolina Dog & Deli closed its doors in July after the death of owner, Joe Fox.

Plans are to be opened in mid-September. Look for the new cafe to be serving hand crafted coffee and espresso drinks, homemade soups, breakfast burritos and lunch sandwiches, in addition to fresh baked pastries.

Laura McAlhaney told ESPB last week that they are also looking into carrying a hot dog on the menu to memorialize Carolina Dog & Deli’s well liked owner, Joe Fox, who passed away last month.
