We’re getting closer to a new spot in town. Finally, it was announced on Saturday that the new Wet Willie’s will be opening on Saturday, December 2nd, in Beaufort Town Center.

Owner Joseph Ford said the spot was originally planed for the fall of 2016, but design work and corporate details delayed the opening and as of Saturday, he told us that “we’re a go for Saturday, December 2nd.”

The bar & restaurant is taking over the spot formerly home to the Beaufort Arts Council and will boast a 2,000 square foot patio in the back with a marsh view as well as a spacious bar and plenty of seating in the restaurant.

“We’ll have more than just drinks,” Ford told ESPB. “We’re excited about the restaurant side and enjoying seeing folks at both lunch and dinner. You’ll be able to enjoy sandwiches, burgers and local favorites including shrimp & grits too.”

Ford, a St. Helena Island native who now lives in Virginia, is opening the spot with his mother, Patricia Alston, who plans to handle day-to-day operations.
