Beaufort Walk for Water

Beaufort Walk for Water

This year, Beaufort will unite to bring safe water to hundreds of men, women and children across the world. Together, we will reach people in need! Register today.

With only a few days to go, it’s time to get off the fences and sign up!   Walk, support a walker or a team or make a general donation.  A child dies every 20 seconds from contaminated water, and it is estimated to take $35 to get one person safe water for life!

Why Walk?
Every day, millions of women and children in developing countries walk nearly 4 miles to retrieve water to their family’s daily needs. In most cases, even after walking for miles and miles, the water they have to drink is contaminated.

Our Walk will simulate this trek to raise awareness of the global water crisis here in our community. Each participant will start the Walk with an empty bucket. About half-way through, they will fill that bucket with water and complete the remainder of the course. We hope that all participants end the Walk with a better understanding of the challenges people around the world face daily in search of something that we often take for granted – water.

Date: September 22nd, 2018

Time: Onsite registration opens at 8am. Opening ceremonies at 8:30am, Walk starts at 9am.

Registration starts at 8 am with live jazz music by local Blue Mudd and fresh coffee served by Capitol Coffee, so walkers, donors and sponsors can enjoy the opening ceremonies in style. Murphy’s Pucker up will be there with their Lemon-Aid stand and BJWSA will provide water for all walkers.

Each participant will start the approximately 3-mile Walk around 9 am with an empty bucket. About half-way through, they will fill that bucket with water and complete the remainder of the course, to simulate the trek millions of women and children make daily to fetch what is often dirty water.
