Beaufort chefs collaborate for 3rd Annual 'Farmer’s Table'

On Saturday, November 3rd, eight of Beaufort’s chefs, local farmers, food artisans and friends of the Lowcountry Food Bank will join together for the 3rd annual Farmer’s Table benefit dinner, hosted by Habersham Marketplace. Guests will be treated to a supper made with fresh, locally sourced food, craft cocktails, beer and wine, and live bluegrass music for a great local cause.

The event begins at 5:30pm with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on The Farm at Habersham (201 Cherokee Farm Road). A live bluegrass duo will play as guests sip on bourbon and enjoy small bites. Guests will also have a chance to take a tour of the farm, and meet the chefs! A hayride pulled by a vintage tractor will transport guests to Habersham Marketplace, where they will enjoy a coursed, collaborative supper under the stars and dance the night away to the sweet sounds of Lowcountry Boil featuring Vic Varner.

The lineup of chefs include event veterans Jim Spratling (Callawassie Island Club), Brian Waters (Saltus River Grill), Richard Wilson (Maggie’s Pub & Eatery), Gary Lang (Breakwater Restaurant and Bar), Brian Ferry (Piace Pizza), and Miles Dean (Old House Smoke House). Chefs Tony Pope (Chechessee Creek Club) and Tony Gates (Spring Island Club) will be joining the all-star roster of chefs for the first time this year.

Proceeds from The Farmer’s Table benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank’s Growing Food Locally program. Through this program, the Lowcountry Food Bank purchases freshproduce from small enterprise farms in Beaufort, Hampton, and Jasper counties and distributes it to our neighbors experiencing hunger. Not only are community members provided with healthy produce, but money is spent within the local food economy. Since beginning Growing Food Locally in 2007, the Lowcountry Food Bank has provided over one million pounds of fresh produce to those in need.

Tickets are $100 each and sponsorships are available. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at 843-747-8146 ext. 105, or online at www.lowcountryfoodbank.org/farmerstable.   A limited number of tickets are available.

The Lowcountry Food Bank serves the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina and distributes more than 19 million pounds of food a year.
