Downtown Beaufort is getting a full service retail bakery. The Beaufort Bread Company plans to open a retail store sometime around the end of this summer at 705 Bay Street in the spot formerly home to Wined It Up.
Owners Eric and Robin Staton plan to have the store, named BBC on Bay, open sometime in September with a huge grand opening celebration to follow.
Beaufort Bread Company has been a popular local spot in the Lady’s Island Shopping Center after opening in 2013. The Statons took over in 2016 and things have been growing ever since at the scratch-made bakery.
“We’re excited to be opening on Bay Street and bringing something new to downtown,” Robin said. “Bay Street is getting something fresh and new that it hasn’t seen before.”
The new 2000 square foot retail location will offer fresh artisan breads, handcrafted pastries and sandwiches, along with fresh baguettes, local farm eggs, Keegan-Filion Farms sausage, jams, BBC dipping seasoning and a variety of local Lowcountry retail items as well. Catering to our downtown visitors, BBC on Bay will also offer smaller artisan loaves so folks can sample at a grab-and-go pace.
Passers-by can also expect to be delighted by the demonstration table where they’ll be able to see artisans in action right along Bay Street. ““We have some very talented people
and I think observers will be amazed at what it takes to create our products,” Eric said.
Expect an expanded all-day coffee and tea bar, complete with smoothies, lattes, cappuccino and iced coffees alongside breakfast offerings including sandwiches, quiches and pastries and lunch offerings including salads, soups, sandwiches and lots more.
BBC on Bay will be developing additional events including cookie decorating and holiday-themed events including a gingerbread house building contest, Easter egg decorating and more.
“We’ve been looking for a second location for awhile now, and this one is perfect,” Eric added. “We plan on being positive, active participants in our downtown community.”
“Robin and I enjoy the interaction of the people every day and we’ve met so many new friends over the past two years and we look forward to meeting new friends at the new location.”
Indeed it will be perfect
ESPB has been surveying our social media followers for the past 5 years asking what they would like to see in downtown Beaufort.
The #1 answer each time? A bakery.
Well…..we got one!
