USCB holds pinning ceremony for nursing graduates

The University of South Carolina Beaufort conducted a Baccalaureate Nursing Pinning Ceremony on Thursday for 28 graduation candidates of the 2015 baccalaureate nursing class of the university’s Department of Nursing and Health Professions on the Historic Beaufort Campus.
The event was the fifth pinning ceremony since the inception of the BSN program at USCB in 2011. The nursing class of 2015 consists of 20 pre-licensure students and 8 RN-to-BSN students.
The pre-licensure track in the Bachelor of Science program in Nursing at USCB provides a four-year course of study for BSN students. The RN to BSN track provides the opportunity for working nurses with an associate degree to obtain the baccalaureate in nursing. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. It serves as tangible evidence of the university’s oft-stated mission to “offer baccalaureate degrees that respond to regional needs, draw upon regional strengths, and prepare graduates to participate successfully in communities here and around the globe.”
“These talented degree candidates will soon join the 135 BSN alumni who have graduated from USCB since 2009,” says Rose Kearney-Nunnery, Ph.D., R.N. Dr. Kearney-Nunnery is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Nursing and Health Professions at the university. “The talent pool is growing. It will continue to provide our communities with caring and skilled professional nurses.”
The lapel pin presented to each nurse candidate signifies the honor of the nursing profession and the school from which the nurse graduated. The pin awarded was designed by graduates of the first BSN class in 2011.
