Newly opened Beaufort River Glass to host Summer Exhibit

The newly opened Beaufort River Glass at the Marina on Lady’s Island is hosting a summer exhibit starting this Saturday, July 18th, and will be running through August 30th. The exhibit features two popular local artists, Suzanne Miller and Todd Lynd, and each will be at a special reception scheduled for Saturday, July 18th from 1 to 5pm.

The Coral REEFlections art line is from the studio of Ocean Arts. Todd Lynd has created this coloring and shaping process, turning eco-friendly plastic (P.E.T.) into colorful and stunning art! Each piece is unique, no two patterns are alike! These permanent, hand-stained, colorful, eye catching pieces are hand shaped under the high heat of Todd’s wood-burning kiln. The result is a glass-like look and feel that shimmers in the light, resembling water and coral reef.

Suzanne Miller is a Southern painter of birds and other interests she finds in nature. Her artistic process began as a child during frequent excursions with her father and family. Growing up as a child in the Air Force her father taught her to see the land and nature, and to appreciate what it offers. Suzanne lived in areas from Alaska to Florida, where she watched and studied and photographed. Birds are a large part of what Suzanne paints because of the beauty found in the species.

Now, her primary source of inspiration for her richly diverse subjects comes from the coastal marshes and land where she lives with her husband and Ragdoll cat in South Carolina. Suzanne is a self taught artist whose family has many artistic talents. She paints using acrylics and watercolor on canvas and on 140lb to 185lb watercolor paper.

Suzanne demonstrates a highly developed sense of color and composition, and a keen attention to detail. She illuminates qualities that often go unnoticed by the casual observer.

She has exhibited her artwork in group exhibitions at The Woodlands Art League in The Woodlands, Texas and has sold many pieces to private residents throughout the United States. She has also contributed to a number of charitable auctions in the region. You can find her work here at Beaufort River Glass, and also at Sweet Bay, 915 Bay Street in downtown Beaufort.
