New photography studio opens in downtown

Nadia Hurtt Photography Studio opens this weekend in downtown Beaufort. ESPB photoA new photography studio opens this weekend in the downtown business district. Local photographer Nadia Hurtt has opened her first portrait studio, located inside the BeaufortPics Gallery on downtown’s Port Republic Street.

“Nadia has been hard at work setting up her new studio and it has all come together nicely,” said Phil Heim, owner of BeaufortPics Gallery. “She does all those things I don’t or cannot do, which is why I believe this will be a very successful partnership. We now have a one-stop-shop, covering all of your local photography needs in the downtown Beaufort area.”

Nadia Hurtt Photography specializes in maternity through baby’s first year including birth, but also shoots high school seniors and family portraits.

“I’m beyond excited,” said Nadia. “Too often people think doing something like this is impossible, it will never work for them, or someone will always be better than them. If you have a dream or a goal, you can make it happen. I have a sign that has hung above my desk since day one that reads: ‘The only person standing between yourself and success is YOU’…and opening this studio just goes to show how true that statement is,” she said.

Influenced since a young child by her uncle who was a merchant marine that took up photography to bring back pieces of the countries he got to visit all over the world, Nadia moved to Beaufort from Hawaii in 2013 with high hopes in bringing her photography career to the Lowcountry. “I started my business in Hawaii and was based out of Wahiawa on the island of Oahu, but Beaufort is just as nice. When we moved here permanently after my husband got out of the military, I told him that I never wanted to have to work for someone ever again. Opening this studio is the culmination of years of dreaming, of wanting to build something I can call my own,” she told us.

Look for lots of upcoming events at the studio including a grand opening, high school senior nights, and even a Toys For Tots campaign this fall.
