New group hosts Scholarship Workshop for local students

Local kids are getting some help in furthering their education beyond the 12th grade. The newly formed Lowcountry Scholarship Group is holding a free three-hour workshop to help area high school students in finding and applying for college scholarships.

The workshop has been designed to provide high school juniors and seniors with information on local, state, and federal scholarships available to them and to help them become confident in the scholarship process including how to find which scholarships are right for each student and how to properly apply for scholarships. Each student will receive a thumb drive with pre-loaded scholarship applications from numerous organizations.

The free workshop will be held on Saturday, March 4, from 9 a.m. until noon at Whale Branch Early College High School.

Students should register at this link no later than February 22nd.

The newly formed Lowcounctry Scholarship Group is a combined panel of heads of many local organizations with a mission to help local youth better prepare and complete the scholarship process, to increase the amounts of scholarships awarded to local students as well as the number of students who attend college.
