Hearth will be opening this May in downtown Beaufort adding yet another inviting spot to grab a good meal on Bay Street. The family pizza restaurant set to serve wood-fired Neopolitan-style pizzas is the vision of Lantz Price, who also owns and operates downtown favorites Plums Restaurant and Saltus River Grill.
According to Price, it’s been a long time coming. “I’ve been looking for a spot just like this to put this pizza restaurant in for about ten years now,” Price said. “I’m so excited to have this location.”
Hearth will offer wood-fired pizzas and fresh salads along with pastas and more. “We’re going for Neopolitan style pizzas with a variety of creative toppings and family-sized pasta offerings too,” he said.
As construction continues, look for an intimate-yet-still-airy restaurant to open in May, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week with about 100 seats, including booths, and a very intimate bar.
“I’m really excited about the fun and vibrant design and reclaimed look of the restaurant. You’ll see lots of exposed brick from the Habersham building and we’ll have lots of natural lighting with 20′ x 30′ windows of divided light glass on the Scott Street side keeping it very bright and airy in the dining room,” Price added.
You can also expect some outside seating to be available…on Bay Street. Price told us that he is looking into the possibility of adding several cafe tables outside along the front end of the restaurant as well.
Some downtown business owners have noted that adding a restaurant to that end of Bay Street would undoubtedly increase foot traffic and all of the businesses would benefit.
“I’m very excited about it bringing more people to this end of Bay,” said Cheryl Hunter, who owns Joli Home Accents along with her daughter, Allegra Craig.
“Knowing Lantz’s reputation, we just know the menu is going to be fun and the food will definitely be exceptional,” she added.
