Junior Service League gives $24,000 to local non-profits

IMG_8424The ladies from the Junior Service League of Beaufort hosted their annual Jubilee on Thursday evening in the beautiful Carolina Room at the Dataw Island Clubhouse.

Attendees enjoyed a night full of fun, food and fellowship along with a big silent auction featuring tons of great local stuff donated by many of Beaufort’s businesses.

Topping off the evening was the annual grant giving by the organization. This year’s recipients received $24,000 that was raised through various JSLB fundraising events throughout the year. The recipients included Second Helpings, Born to Read, ABLE Foundation, CAPA, the Extra Mile Club, Hopeful Horizons, Thumbs Up and Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity.

Also, recognized for their contributions to our community, State Representative Shannon Erickson and Beaufort City Councilwoman Nan Sutton were honored with honorary memberships in the organization.

JSLB is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005 dedicated to supporting and enriching the lives of women, children and families in our community. The league has donated more than $125,000 to area nonprofits since its founding, and league members regularly volunteer in our community.
