As if any more fun could be had at the annual Festival of Trees in December, Friends of Caroline Hospice has added a 5K race to the list of events. The inaugural Gingerbread 5K will take place in December in Port Royal.

“This brings a fun race to Beaufort during a time of year when it’s more difficult for Beaufort’s running community to find one,” said Sara Schemel of Friends of Caroline Hospice. “What a perfect way to spend the day with a 5K and then our annual Yoga Among the Trees event right afterward. We’re very excited.”

The family friendly holiday race will take place on December 16, 2017, at 9 am through the streets of Port Royal, starting and finishing at Live Oaks Park.

Costumes are encouraged and we cannot wait to see Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves and reindeer running through town. With average December temperatures hovering around 61°, it’s the perfect weather to get out and enjoy a fun run.

Online registration ends on December 13, 2017. Race day registration is available from 7:30 to 8:30 am. Packet pick can be done on race day beginning at 7:30 am, or on December 15, 2017 at Grounded Running.

Race entry includes t-shirt, (must register by December 1st to guarantee t-shirt). Chip timing will be conducted by Grounded Running and medals will be given to top three overall male and female finishers, as well as top three male and female finishers from each age group; and also given to the top three costume winners.

You can sign up for the fun here.
