Imagine LowCountry Habitat for Humanity not having the tools, to build homes for families in need.  Unfortunately this worst case scenario became a reality when the organization’s tool trailer and contents were stolen earlier this year from behind its ReStore building on Parris Island Gateway.

That all changed on Friday when local charities came together to help out and a new trailer for the organization was delivered and dedicated. To make LowCountry Habitat whole again after the theft, the final piece of this puzzle was the replacement of the Tool Trailer and The Beaufort Charities organization stepped up to this challenge and has donated a new trailer to the organization.

“We are so thankful for the Beaufort Community coming together to help us in this time of dire need.  The funds to replace all of the tools have been raised through contributions from many generous donors in Beaufort County as well as grant funding from the Friends of Callawassie Island,” said Janie Lackman of Habitat for Humanity.

On Friday, the organizations celebrated together, and Habitat has gratefully recognized The Beaufort Charities organization and all the wonderful changes that their funding has made possible in the Beaufort community.

Executive Director Chet Houston commented, “We are humbled by the generosity of the Beaufort Community and thankful for our partnership with The Beaufort Charities.  LowCountry Habitat is grateful to be back to the business of building homes that change lives for our Beaufort families.  Today this is possible thanks to the Beaufort Charities.”

“Beaufort Charities has spent the last 41 years raising funds to support local non-profit organizations in Beaufort, SC.  LowCountry Habitat has a long history of partnering with The Beaufort Charities and is proud to be a recipient of their funding.  This donation provides an opportunity for LowCountry Habitat to proudly display their partnership at every job site,” Lackman added.
