Beaufort's Cabbie Cuisine delivers on quality

Beaufort’s Cabbie Cuisine Multi-Restaurant Delivery Service is bringing different local cuisines to Beaufort area residents… and helping them decide what’s for lunch and dinner.

For 10 years, Cadell Crawford owned a residential appraisal business in Atlanta, Ga. There, she was introduced to the concept of restaurant delivery, but only as a consumer. At the time, she thought “This is a great idea!” Once the real estate market crashed, she packed up her family and moved to beautiful Beaufort. After 4 years of working in the very limited job market in Beaufort; including a stint at Walmart, she decided that the great idea in Atlanta could be a viable business for the Beaufort area. So, Crawford decided to quit her job and start her own and Cabbie Cuisine was formed on June 10, 2011.

“We are delivering a convenience that is unique, but that is definitely needed in Beaufort,” she said.  “We’ve gotten some great feedback from the community.”

Ms. Crawford was able to start her business with three restaurants and since then, her business has grown to include 12 restaurants. She delivers to all of the Beaufort/Lady’s Island area including military bases.

When placing an order, customers can call the local phone number or visit the Cabbie Cuisine website at www.clickordereat.net. On the website, there is a full list of all the restaurants that Cabbie Cuisine customers can order from.  “People don’t want to go out for some reason. We fill that gap,” she said. “It works nice for us and the restaurants.”  (and of course for the public too!)

The clientele for Cabbie Cuisine ranges from military, corporate, vacationers and regular citizens. Crawford said she serves everyone from single men to families to seniors.  “We are all across the board,” she said. “Not only do we do just regular everyday deliveries, we have delivered for funerals, anniversaries as well as for the sick and shut in.”

She has made a huge impact with the military graduation venue in that Cabbie Cuisine Delivers picnic style lunches on Family Day at Parris Island MCRD. This allows the marines and their families to spend time together instead of in line at the Lyceum.

The price of the food is around the same price that you would pay at the restaurant, and the delivery fee ranges from 5.99 to 9.99 depending on location. Customers can order on line, and for $1 can order during peak times from a dispatcher by phone.  Crawford said more orders are placed online than via the telephone and that many customers prefer to order online because it makes for a more accurate order, while saving them money. She added that there are many people who place advance orders to save them time during their lunch break at work or to make sure dinner is ready when they arrive home.

“It is a great service. Customer service is a huge part as well as delivering food hot and fresh every time,” Crawford said. She added that she will only deliver in a 10 to 15 mile radius of the restaurant.  “You don’t want to jeopardize the quality of the food.”

Cabbie Cuisine helps the restaurants by more than just delivering their food to local customers. Crawford said that her business also provides marketing and promotion for the restaurants as well.

Over the next five years, Crawford said she would like to grow her business throughout the state, and has just launched a vacation renter’s delivery option for groceries and is building a separate website for Beaufort residents to grocery shop with delivery.

“I have big visions,” she said.

Cabbie Cuisine is open Monday to Thursday from 11am to 9:30pm, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 10:30pmand Sunday from 2 to 9pm.
