U.S. News and World Report has named Beaufort the most charming town in South Carolina and the spot to see in SC In it’s annual list of “50 Charming Small Towns to Visit Across Every State”, the magazine that publishes news, opinion, consumer advice, rankings, and analysis sure showed Beaufort the love.
“Beaufort is the epitome of Southern charm. Antebellum architecture and moss-laden oak trees can be found throughout this part of the coastal Lowcountry,” the article said. “Aside from its great aesthetics, what makes Beaufort stand out is its storied history. Beaufort is home to Civil War-era homes, and it also once played host to notorious pirate Blackbeard, who came ashore to the scenic Hunting Island State Park during the 18th century.”
“But one of the most attractive elements of Beaufort is its convenience: It’s about an hour’s drive from Savannah, Georgia, and less than two hours from Charleston, South Carolina.”
We have lots of competition here in the state. Charleston isn’t too shabby. Neither are Greenville, Aiken or Bluffton either. But, let’s be frank here; Beaufort is certainly the best of them all.
This is yet another nod for our beautiful Beaufort by the sea. Southern Living named it the Best Town in the South back in March, 2017, and Coastal Living told the world that we are the Happiest Seaside Town in America back in 2013.
Other recent accolades include Beaufort being ranked as the #4 Best Place to Retire in the U.S. and numerous others touting our town’s livability and beauty.
