22nd KidFest set to invade Beaufort

Gather your family and get ready for a day of free games, giveaways, and fun: the 22nd annual KidFest is coming to Beaufort and bringing along a fun day of activities, games, prizes, crafts, and entertainment for families celebrating our children.

KidFest started 23 years ago as a small event hosted by CAPA (Child Abuse Prevention Association) at Downtown’s Waterfront Park, with around 10 vendors and 200 attendees. Over the years the event has outgrown the beautiful waterfront park, and has moved to the Cross Creek Shopping Center. Now, KidFest hosts more than 70 vendors and an estimated 10,000 attendees.

This year, the Cross Creek Shopping Center (in front of Belk and JC Penny) will transform once again into a child’s ultimate day of fun.

The event is FREE to the public, and all families are invited to the event for snow cones, games, jumping and virtual booths, crafts, face painting, fire truck tours, animals, prizes, a talent show featuring local groups, and much more. In recent years, the event has brought tons of people and featured many area civic groups, vendors, a petting zoo, a pizza eating contest, rock climbing wall, superstar guests, DJs and lots of other great things for the kids.

Gavigan Entertainment will be rocking the stage, and you can be sure to expect some dancing from attendees and maybe even some of your favorite book characters too.

“KidFest is a great opportunity for the Marine Corps to partner with the community to bring a day of fun, information and local resources to Beaufort families,’ said Megan Grabowski, KidFest representative from MCCS South Carolina.

If you have attended KidFest in the past, you know it is a huge event sponsored by MCCS South Carolina in partnership with CAPA, the Exchange Club of Beaufort, and other local organizations. If you haven’t been to KidFest before, this is the year to come.

KidFest always happens the first weekend of April each year in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month and Month of the Military Child.

So mark your calendars for April 7 from 10am-2pm at the Cross Creek Shopping Center!
